FAQ on the Naegleria Fowleri Amoeba
The Board of Directors for Ricewood Municipal Utility District (Ricewood MUD) understands that residents may have questions about the Naegleria Fowleri Amoeba after the incident that happened near Lake Jackson earlier this year. It is important to the Board that residents know that the District’s water system is designed to maintain specific disinfection levels that are scientifically proven to kill micro-organisms, including Naegleria Fowleri Amoeba. The levels of disinfection and cross connection measures are established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
